The 66th Grammy Awards witnessed a groundbreaking moment with the introducing of the Best African Performance category.

South Africa’s rising star, Tyla, etched her name in history by claiming the inaugural award for her remarkable song “Water.”

While Tyla’s victory deserves its well-deserved spotlight, it’s important to acknowledge the impressive company she faced.

Celebrated Nigerian artistes Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, and Ayra Starr were also nominated, showcasing African music’s vibrant diversity and talent.

Tyla expressed her surprise and joy at winning her first Grammy at the young age of 22. Her achievement serves as an inspiration to aspiring musicians across the continent.

Notably, Davido and Burna Boy remain Grammy-nominated artists, having received recognition in other categories despite not taking home awards this year.
