Residents of Efiakuma and surrounding communities are set to benefit from free internet access, thanks to a pioneering initiative by the Jelvis Foundation.
The project, which forms part of a broader community development plan, will be officially launched this Saturday at the EKMA Conference Hall.
In an interview on Melody Fm’s Home-Stretch , founder Jelvis explained that the foundation began years ago as the Community Connect Foundation, with activities such as donations and children’s parties. The name was later changed to Jelvis Foundation after a rebranding effort.
The centerpiece of the foundation’s current work is the Free WiFi Project, which aims to provide unrestricted internet access—except for explicit content—throughout Efiakuma. Phase 1 of the project has already been completed, covering areas like Number 9, Effia, Tanokrom, and New Site. The internet is being powered by Starlink, and is entirely free for users.

To promote responsible usage, the system will automatically disconnect users every two hours, requiring them to reconnect. Jelvis also clears the air on rumors that its affiliated with any political colors or harbors any political ambitions.
The official launch on Saturday will begin with a free health screening from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., in observance of World Hypertension Day. The event will feature performances and appearances from Shasha Marley and Kofi Kinaata, both strong supporters of the initiative.
