The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a final warning to all unlicensed gold traders: register by June 21, 2025, or face immediate legal action.
GoldBod CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, announced during a stakeholder meeting that there will be no further extensions after the already-extended deadline. The move is part of government efforts to clean up and regulate the gold trade in Ghana.
“We’re enforcing this for the good of the nation,” Gyamfi emphasized. “Anyone who hinders this process will be prosecuted under Ghanaian law.”
The Chamber of Licensed Gold Buyers has expressed full support for the initiative, urging all members and stakeholders to comply immediately.
“This is our second extension. No excuses beyond June 21,” said the Chamber’s CEO, Kwaku Amoah.
This crackdown aims to promote transparency and accountability in Ghana’s gold sector, protecting the economy and ensuring all traders operate legally.
