Starting July 1, 2025, Ghanaians will enjoy increased data bundle allocations across all major telecommunication networks, following successful negotiations between the Ministry of Communications and telecom operators.
The announcement was made today by Communications Minister Samuel George during a press briefing in Accra. According to the Minister, the move is part of the government’s commitment to enhancing digital access and offering better value for money to consumers.
“I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures,” Mr. George stated.
Here’s a breakdown of the new data bundle adjustments:
AirtelTigo Ghana (AT Ghana):
10% increase across all data bundles
GH₵400 bundle upgraded from 195GB to 236GB
Telecel Ghana:
10% increase across all data bundles
GH₵400 bundle increased from 90GB to 250GB
MTN Ghana:
15% increase across all data bundles
Restoration of GH₵399 bundle offering 214GB (previously changed to GH₵350 for 92.88GB)
Mr. George acknowledged the financial challenges these changes pose for the telecom companies but emphasized the greater benefit to consumers.
“I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators,” he said. “However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people.”
He also thanked the CEOs of the telecom companies for their cooperation, describing it as a sign of strengthened collaboration between government and industry.
The data bundle increases are expected to boost internet usage and support Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
