Ghana has reiterated its commitment to deepening economic cooperation with China, officially inviting Chinese investors to participate in the country’s ambitious $100 billion Big Push industrialization agenda and its 24-Hour Economy initiative. The call was made during the Ghana-China Business Summit 2025, a landmark event aimed at strengthening bilateral trade and investment relations.

Delivering the keynote address, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Minister in Charge of Presidential Special Initiatives, declared,

“Ghana is not open for charity. Ghana is open for access.”

He emphasized that Ghana provides a politically stable, investment-ready environment and access to a regional market of over 400 million consumers in the ECOWAS bloc.

Minister Agyekum presented key projects under Ghana’s Big Push agenda, spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama, which seeks to transform the country’s industrial and infrastructure landscape. Highlights include:

  • $10 billion Trade Fair Centres in the Volta and Ashanti regions
  • $3 billion in auto assembly plant opportunities
  • $2 billion for national road rehabilitation

These projects form part of Ghana’s broader goal to drive sustainable development and inclusive economic growth.

Drawing parallels with China’s transformation of cities like Shenzhen, Hainan, and Chongqing, Agyekum urged Chinese businesses to build boldly in Ghana.

“You built Shenzhen. You transformed Hainan. You redefined Chongqing. Now, we invite you to build boldly—with us—in Ghana,” he said.

He stressed that Ghana is ready to lead Africa’s 24-Hour Economy, set to launch on July 1st, and called on China to be a strategic partner in powering this new phase of economic productivity.

The Minister concluded his speech with a passionate appeal for results-oriented collaboration:

“Let us bond beyond protocol. Let us build beyond bureaucracy. Let projects be our shared language. Let results be our signature handshake.”

“Ghana has the land. Ghana has the leadership. Ghana has the leverage. What we need—what we welcome—is YOU,” Agyekum said, extending an open invitation to investors.

The Ghana-China Business Summit 2025 marks a pivotal moment for both countries as they explore new frontiers in trade, industrial development, and international cooperation.
