Fake Doctor Arrested In Kasoa For Fraud And Personation

The Ghana Police Service has arrested a man who posed as a medical doctor to defraud unsuspecting victims in Kasoa, Central Region. The suspect, identified as Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation by the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) on Thursday, June 6, 2025, at Crispo City in Kasoa.

According to a police statement released on Monday, June 9, Kow-Assifuah was found dressed in a white lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck. He had arranged to meet another potential victim he had allegedly lured online with false promises of travel opportunities abroad.

A search of the premises led to the retrieval of several medical items, including: 2 stethoscopes, 3 intravenous (IV) drips, 5 syringes, 2 sample bottles, 1 roll of plaster, 6 bottles of vaccines, 1 Ghanaian passport and GH¢8,500.00 in cash.

During police interrogation, the suspect confessed to impersonating a doctor at the United Brain Hospital located in Mallam, Accra. He admitted to using the fake identity to engage women online, initiating romantic relationships and convincing them to pay money for fraudulent travel arrangements to Europe.

Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations. Authorities have confirmed he will be arraigned before court soon.
