FDA Warns Against Cannabis-Infused Alcohol, Shuts Down Illegal Factory

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has warned the public not to drink Kings Orange Flavored Liqueur and Jupiter 1990.

Tests showed that both drinks contain cannabis extracts. The FDA says these products are unsafe and not registered.

The drinks were being made by FAMUDE Catering Services, an illegal factory in the Ashanti Region. After finding out, the FDA quickly closed down the factory and revoked its license. The case is now with the Suntresu District Police for more investigations.

The FDA is also working with the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to stop the spread of such products.

Even though some efforts were made earlier, the FDA found out in April that Kings Orange Flavoured Liqueur was still being sold in Koforidua. This led them to a second illegal site linked to the same group.

The FDA is asking everyone to stay away from these two drinks and report any shops or people selling them.
