Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, a former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and a former Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has passed away after a short illness.
The respected politician and sports administrator died on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra, according to sources within the party. Although the exact cause of death has not been disclosed, it is believed he succumbed to a brief illness.
Ade Coker was a well-known figure in Ghanaian political and sports circles. His voice was often heard on national matters, and he was widely admired for his honest and forthright political commentary.
He first assumed the role of NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman in 2009 and served for three consecutive terms. His tenure lasted over a decade until he lost the position in 2022 to Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the current regional chairman.
Outside of politics, Ade Coker also left a legacy in sports. As Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, he played a key role in football governance and development, earning respect from across the sporting community.
His passing is being deeply mourned by members of the NDC, fellow politicians, sports administrators, and Ghanaians at large. Tributes continue to pour in, honoring his dedication, grassroots leadership, and commitment to national service.
