The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned students sitting for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) against engaging in exam malpractice. Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, June 9, 2025, GES Director-General Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis stressed the importance of integrity. He urged candidates to prepare diligently and avoid relying on leaked answers, popularly referred to as “apor.”

“Put in your best effort to excel. Do not rely on leaked answers or any external support—it may not come, and it certainly won’t help you,” Prof. Davis stated. He also issued a warning to invigilators and supervisors, stating that those caught aiding malpractice will face disciplinary actions, including possible dismissal.

The 2025 BECE is scheduled to take place from Wednesday, June 11, to Wednesday, June 18, with 603,328 candidates expected to participate. The exams will be held in 2,237 centers for school candidates and 15 centers for private candidates.

Security will be enhanced through collaboration with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and law enforcement agencies to ensure a fair and orderly process.
