Ghana has confirmed six new cases of Mpox (formerly known as monkeypox), bringing the country’s total number of recorded infections to 91. This update comes from health officials who are currently monitoring the situation closely.
According to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), two of the newly infected individuals are currently on admission and receiving treatment under strict observation. Contact tracing efforts are underway to identify and isolate possible exposures to prevent further transmission.
The recent spike has sparked concern among the public. However, the GHS has assured citizens that the situation remains under control and that proactive measures are being implemented to manage the outbreak.
The GHS is encouraging the public to:
Maintain proper personal hygiene
Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of Mpox, especially those with unexplained rashes
Seek immediate medical care if symptoms such as fever, rash, swollen lymph nodes, or fatigue appear
The GHS also reminds the public that early detection and responsible health practices are critical to containing the spread of the virus.
