Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Accra West Region, is taking bold steps to eliminate illegal water connections, announcing plans to prosecute offenders who failed to regularize their usage.

A recent audit uncovered nearly 1,500 illegal connections across 12 districts between late 2024 and early 2025. Despite a grace period and several reminders, over 800 individuals have not complied.

“These acts of theft and criminality affect everyone—from revenue loss to service disruptions,” said Solace Akomeah, Communications Manager for GWL.

GWL will collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to prosecute offenders and safeguard the efforts of its dedicated staff and law-abiding customers. The company urges citizens to report illegal connections to ensure fair and equitable water access for all.

With this action, GWL is reaffirming its commitment to protecting Ghana’s water infrastructure and promoting responsible usage.
