The move comes as disinformation has been rife in both India and Pakistan amid last week’s tit-for-tat military strikes

India has blocked the X accounts of Chinese state news agency Xinhua, English-language Communist Party publication Global Times, and Turkey’s TRTWorld as of Wednesday afternoon local time.

The move follows India’s claims that foreign media outlets have been spreading misinformation regarding last week’s military clashes with Pakistan.

The two nuclear-armed neighbors nearly reached the brink of war after exchanging missile, drone, and shell fire. The tensions erupted on April 22 when Islamist extremists carried out a brutal attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, killing 26 civilians, mostly tourists.

India has accused Pakistan of providing safe harbor and support to militants, a claim that Islamabad has denied.

Following multiple retaliatory strikes from both nations, a ceasefire was declared on May 10, and as of now, it continues to hold.
