President John Mahama has pardoned Sammy Gyamfi after a video showed him giving U.S. dollars to evangelist Nana Agradaa.

Gyamfi is the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. The video went viral and caused public anger. Many said his actions broke Ghana’s Foreign Exchange Act and rules for public officials.

Civil society groups and opposition MPs wanted Gyamfi fired. They said his conduct hurt public trust.

But President Mahama has accepted Gyamfi’s apology. He will not face any further punishment.

The Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, shared the President’s decision at a press conference.

He said the President warned Gyamfi and all public officials to follow the Code of Conduct.

The President said he supports ethical governance but does not believe this incident requires Gyamfi’s dismissal.

This ends the controversy, but Gyamfi and others have been warned to act responsibly in public office.
