The Ministry of Transport has officially commenced expansion works at Terminal 2 of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to help reduce congestion at Terminal 3 and improve overall airport operations.
The upgrade will enable Terminal 2 to handle both domestic and international flights. The project will be rolled out in two phases, aimed at decongesting Terminal 3 and enhancing passenger experience.
Transport Minister Joseph Nikpe Bukari, during a working visit to the airport, emphasized that the expansion is part of a broader national effort to meet growing passenger and cargo traffic.
“At peak hours, Terminal 3 gets heavily congested. By shifting some operations to Terminal 2, we’ll create more space and comfort for travelers,” the Minister explained.
The revamped Terminal 2 is expected to significantly improve efficiency, reduce wait times, and support Ghana’s aviation sector growth.
