Three people were injured in a mid-afternoon collision involving two taxis near BU Junction in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis on Monday, June 9, 2025.
The crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. when a Toyota Yaris taxi (GW 5994-24), heading from Sekondi to Ketan, collided with a second taxi (CR 1079-21) emerging onto the main road. Eyewitnesses reported that a parked trotro obstructed the second driver’s view, leading to the crash.
“The driver couldn’t see the oncoming vehicle due to the parked trotro. As soon as he moved onto the road, he got hit,” a witness explained. The impact caused the second taxi to somersault into a storm drain. All three victims, including both drivers and a passenger, were rushed to the hospital.
This incident is part of a growing trend, with five fatal accidents reported in the Sekondi-Takoradi area within the past two weeks. Residents are urging the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) to intensify road safety enforcement and awareness.
