In a well-coordinated operation by the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly , traders who have long operated from the Takoradi Jubilee Park Market Station have been successfully relocated to the Apremdo Central Market, also known as the Abenbobom Market.
The relocation, which took place early Monday, was supervised by military personnel to ensure a smooth and peaceful transition. The move marks a significant milestone in Sekondi-Takoradi’s urban restructuring efforts, aimed at decongesting the city center and modernizing trading infrastructure.

The involvement of the Ghana Armed Forces helped prevent resistance during the relocation process ordered by the MCE of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality. Personnel were seen assisting in the movement of goods and directing traffic around the area.
Authorities have assured traders that all necessary logistical and security support will be provided in the early days of operation at the Apremdo (Abenbobom) Market.
The Jubilee Park Market had become overcrowded and posed serious safety, health, and congestion challenges. Relocating the traders forms part of the broader Sekondi-Takoradi urban development plan, which includes market redevelopment and decongestion of commercial areas.
With the successful evacuation complete, the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality is expected to focus on redeveloping the Jubilee Park area into a multi-purpose public space, while monitoring activities at Apremdo to ensure smooth operations.
More updates on the market operations and feedback from traders will follow in our subsequent reports.
