Students showcase creativity and practical skills to promote arts for national growth
The Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology at Takoradi Technical University (TTU) opened its Faculty Week with a colourful Open Day and Exhibition.
Held under the theme “Creativity in Motion: Rekindling the Arts for National Development,” the event attracted many students from senior high schools in Sekondi-Takoradi.
The exhibition featured creative projects and practical works by TTU students, giving visitors a chance to explore innovation and artistic talent.
Vice-Chancellor Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun praised the faculty for promoting creativity, saying art inspires, connects people, and encourages social progress.
He explained that creative expression can spark new ideas, promote critical thinking, and play a key role in solving everyday problems.
Moreover, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Owusu Ansah Ankrah, said the exhibition proves how student ideas can lead to real community improvements.
He added that when students apply their talents practically, they gain confidence and skills that prepare them for success in the creative industry.
In addition, the Paramount Chief of the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetrete Okuamoah Sekyim II, delivered a powerful keynote address.
He encouraged investment in the creative arts sector, noting that it can generate jobs, support tourism, and grow new businesses in Ghana.
Furthermore, the Open Day launched a week-long celebration featuring student artworks, fashion displays, and hands-on training projects in design and technology.
Other planned events include educational lectures, a fashion show, community outreach, and interactive sessions with industry professionals and entrepreneurs.
As a result, TTU continues to position itself as a hub for creative education, talent development, and innovation for national development.
By showcasing their talents, students are learning to turn ideas into solutions, and using creativity to shape a better future for Ghana.
