Western Regional Minister Orders New Committee For T&A Park Management

Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson has directed the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive, Ebenezer Cobbinah, to immediately form a management committee to oversee the T&A Park, ensuring the inclusion of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

The directive follows ongoing disputes between the NSA and the Assembly over control of the facility, which was upgraded by Goldfields Ghana in 2024 to a modern stadium with a 10,000-seat capacity.

Issues began when former MCE Benjamin Kesse declined to allow the NSA to take over management, instead handing over the facility to Medeama Sporting Club—a move that has raised legal and operational concerns.

“The current situation undermines transparency and violates proper procedures,” said NSA official Joseph Alabi Bortey. “We need a shared management system with both NSA and the Assembly involved.”

While the current MCE, Ebenezer Cobbinah, acknowledged the Minister’s directive, he requested more time to engage stakeholders and better understand the situation before proceeding.
