The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has directed the Western Regional Lands Commission to reduce the time for land registration to 30 working days.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new 23-member board in Sekondi, the Minister stressed the need to eliminate delays in land administration. He called for a decentralized system where residents can access services at the district level rather than traveling to the regional office.

Mr. Buah reminded the board of their constitutional responsibilities and obligations under the Lands Commission Act of 2008. He tasked them to ensure land services are affordable, accessible, and transparent, while also preventing the misuse of stool lands and protecting public lands from encroachers.

He urged the board to promote professionalism among staff and use their expertise to rebuild public trust in the system. The newly inaugurated board is expected to immediately begin implementing reforms aimed at faster, fairer, and more efficient land service delivery across the region.

The newly reconstituted 23-member Western Regional Lands Council Board comprises 22 individuals from diverse backgrounds, including land administration, academia, and the House of Chiefs. The board is chaired by Prof. Frederick Boakye-Yiadom of Takoradi Technical University.
