The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed two new Mpox cases. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Ghana to four.
The new cases were reported in the Greater Accra Region and the Western Region, with one case in each. The update was shared in a press release from GHS on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

According to GHS, these new cases have no link to the earlier two cases reported. This means they were not infected by the first patients.
The National Public Health and Reference Laboratory tested and confirmed the new cases.
In response, the Regional Health Directorates in both regions have started contact tracing. This helps to find and test people who may have had close contact with the patients. It is part of efforts to stop the virus from spreading.
GHS also reminded the public that Mpox is a viral disease. It spreads through close contact with infected people, animals, or contaminated items.
Common symptoms of Mpox include: Rash, Fever, Headache, Muscle pain, Back pain, Tiredness and Swollen lymph nodes
The Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service are working together to control the situation. They are also asking media houses to help educate the public.
GHS is urging everyone to follow safety measures, avoid close contact with infected persons, and report any unusual symptoms to the nearest health facility.
