The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has advised the public not to attack fire officers. There have been reports of people attacking Ghana National Fire Service personnel over alleged delays in responding to emergencies.

Speaking at the opening of a new fire station in Gomoa Fetteh, Central Region, the Minister said such behavior must stop. He said, “Anyone who attacks fire officers will be arrested and prosecuted.”

Mr. Mubarak added that the Ghana Police Service will now work closely with fire officers. “Police will go with fire crews to fire scenes or rescue sites. If anyone attacks them, they will be arrested on the spot,” he stated.

The goal is to protect fire officers and help them do their job safely.

Also speaking at the event, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, advised Ghanaians to help prevent fire outbreaks. He said, “Safety is a shared responsibility.” “Firefighters will always be ready to help, but we must all respect their work and take steps to prevent fires.”

He urged the public to focus on fire safety and emergency preparedness.
