Van Dijk takes responsibility for Liverpool loss at Arsenal –

Published

on

Virgil van Dijk has claimed responsibility for costing Liverpool in the 3-1 loss to Arsenal.

The Reds skipper made an error leading to the Gunners’ second goal in the match and has vowed to improve going forward.

He said: “The 2-1, I take full responsibility for, but that’s a big turning point in the game.

“I should have done better, should have made a better decision there and it hurts. It hurts for me and obviously the rest of the team.

“These things don’t happen too many times in my career and it’s a tough one but I will recover from this because I will learn from things that don’t go well.

“Before that, especially after the break, we were so good, we had opportunities, we were dominant. The atmosphere started to become more nervous.”

Head coach Jurgen Klopp agreed with his skipper’s assessment and expressed his frustrations over the quality of officiating in the match.

Ibrahima Konate saw red late on for a second bookable office but the German tactician believes more than one Arsenal player should have suffered the same fate.

He said: “In general it was not our day I think, we can admit that.

“Arsenal deserved the three points, even when the circumstances were obviously a bit strange.

“A lot of things came together in one game. We didn’t play enough football or use Trent [Alexander-Arnold] in the way we wanted to.

“I’m not over the moon but it’s what it is, that’s life. You take that and work with it. We should have played better but everything went against us.”

The Electoral Commission (EC) has reassured the public that the missing Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) Kits cannot be utilised to access its system or data.

According to Dr Eric Bossman Asare, the BVRs, which include a laptop, are ineffective on their own and can only be activated by the EC.

Thus, they pose no threat to the integrity of elections, he stated.

Additionally, they cannot be used to register anyone during the ongoing limited voter registration exercise nor do they contain any sensitive data from the EC’s system, he said in an interview with JoyNews’ Evans Mensah.

Dr Bossman Asare stated, “The laptops on their own are insignificant. They are just like the laptops you use at your workplace. We’ve accounted for every single device that we’re going to be using.

“In 2020, when we did the registration, we bought 8,500 of the registration devices. We are not using all of them in this registration.”

“So that means the ones we are using now, we still have some there. So are you saying the EC will come and tell the Ghanaian people that five laptops are missing and we want to use those laptops to register people? Who in the EC is going to do that?” he quizzed.
